Why are so many members of Lynyrd Skynyrd dead?

If i'm not mistaken, only rythm guitarist Gary Rossington and drummer Artimus Pyle are still alive when there was like a bunch of them originally. Allen Collins (Lead Guitar) , Leon Wilkson (bass), Ronny Van Zhant (singer), Billy Powell (Keyboardist), Steve Gains (guitar), Cassie Gains (Backup Vocals) & Ed King are all dead. What the hell happened? Even three of the new members who replaced them in the 2001 reunion have died since then. Is there some kind of Lynyrd Skynyrd curse or something?
