Question about stretching ears?

I want to start stretching my ears. I heard you can stretch your ears with acrylic tapers as long as you don't leave the taper in, but is it ok to wear acrylic plugs right after stretching your ears? I can't order tapers and plugs online and I can only buy them at stores like Hot Topic or Spencers (where most of the plugs/tapers they sell there are acrylic).
