Do skateboard decks really help with street skating?

This is probably an extremely obvious question but honestly, I've never even stood on a street deck. I usually ride Powell/Creature/Vision Pool decks and rip it up with those. But, I never do any flip tricks or grind any curbs when I'm out skating to the store. I cant do any flip tricks on my Powell FrankieHill Reissue, so I'm wondering if going out and buying a Element or Plan B street deck would be a good investment. And if it would make street stuff alot easier. Also, any recommendations? Thanks.
